Gotland, the island of many silver treasures, is the home of the Gotland Pelt sheep with their unique curly grey fleece. The lambs – black at birth – run with their dams, grazing on pasture that is rich in lime and herbaceous plants. Raising these sheep and utilising their excellent meat, wool and skins is an intrinsic part of Gotland’s cultural heritage. A comprehensive breeding programme has resulted in lustrous, silvery-grey skins with a clearly defined, even curl that is soft to the touch. There is great demand for our high-quality sheepskins.
